No pain?
Short post today (promise!). As I was going to bed last night I had two severe stabs of pain in my hip area. It almost made me think I had a hip fracture or something but no such thing showed up on the CT scan, it’s just all the trauma in that lower back area. I was a little bit discouraged.
But this morning (Sat March 23), I woke up at 6:00, stayed in bed for a while and made trips in and out of bed with no pain. In fact, I’ve had no pain at all today and it’s 3:30 in the afternoon. I went outside earlier, got in the car, we went to the post office (I stayed in the car) and Sur La Table to get a juicer. I went in, with walker, and we got a juicer. Felt like a victory to do something normal, like a real person. Interesting how you can feel like less than a full person with disabling injuries. This is a good thing, hopefully it will increase my empathy for people in less fortunate circumstances.
On our way back we stopped to see our former next door neighbors who are trying to move Not Too Far Away. But we will miss them. I got up the stairs to their doorway without my walker, walked around their yard a little bit, and generally got around without any trouble (or pain).
I’m sure the pain will come back later but it’s been luxurious to just concentrate on being careful instead of doing that and dealing with bouts of pain. Oh, and my back itches like hell now. Is that good?
Tomorrow: flying to CA. Wish me luck. :-)
